J80RX

Our sailmaker Matt has more than 20 years in sail design and construction. He is special among sailmakers in his desire to get to know you, your needs and your boat. He’ll meet you on board to measure you actual boat, not what the database says it should be. He can then build you a truly custom sail or sails.

Once we earn your first order, we believe that we’ll be your sailmaker for life.

Call us to discuss what we can do for you.

Cheers!

Roller Furling Sails

UV Cover replacement. Your UV cover is an important part of roller furling genoas and mainsails. They need restitch and replacing after years of use and exposure. We recommend every 3 years a full restitch of cover and every 5-8 years replacement of the cover. This all depends on use and where boat is located if you are in the Caribbean every year this adds to the UV exposure. Make this part of your general maintenance get your sails in every year for a check over to potential issues before they become a big problemuv

Tides Marine Sail Track

Tides Marine Track and Slide System

The Tides Marine Track and Slide System is a high-performance, low friction mainsail track and slide system built to handle the increased loads and demands of today’s full batten mainsails. When installed, the mainsail will raise easily and drop the instant the halyard is eased. This System consists of an ultra low friction, durable Tides Marine Track and a selection of matching slides and batten receptacles designed for long lasting operation.

Sail Track Description

The Tides Marine Track is machined from Black UHMW-PE. This material has a very low coefficient of friction and is impact, abrasion and wear resistant. The UHMW-PE is not affected by saltwater and very UV stable. It’s available in seamless lengths to 65 feet and can be installed without going aloft or drilling holes into mast. The system will work on masts with internal flat or round luff grooves as well as masts with external tracks.

Slides and Fittings Description

Tides Marine Slides are finished to a smooth, low-friction surface, eliminating any sharp edges which can cause conventional slides to bind. They are available in three standard sizes – headboard slide (3″), reef or batten slide (2″) and luff slide (approx. 1-3/8″).

Batten Receptacles are available in two sizes that accept round and flat battens. They are attach to a universal joint and 10 mm stud. This fitting rotates freely when the mainsail is raised or lowered. These universal joints and stud are also designed to fit receptacles made by other manufacturers.

Sail Service

Service, Repair, Wash

If there is one thing that shortens the life of your sail, it’s a lack of maintenance. Routine repair and maintenance can increase longevity and improve performance. At Ullman Sails Mid Chesapeake, we have developed a routine Check-up specifically designed to evaluate your sail’s condition, so we can make necessary repairs and extend the life of your sails or canvas. In addition, we wash your sails over the winter so they are in the best condition possible for spring.

The Ullman Service Team

Services Repair WashOur service team is recognized as the best in the business. It is led by experts with over 40 years of sailmaking experience. In addition to providing the best care for your sails, our team will help you plan your inventory and help you set up sail handling equipment to make sailing safe and enjoyable for you and your crew.

The Ullman process

When you bring your sails in, we tag and log it into our system to create a record for each sail. Once we give your sails our check-up we’ll provide you with an estimate before any work is performed.

UV exposure, UV covers, and recuts

Our staff has years of experience dealing with UV exposure on sails. We’ll check the stitching to make sure that it is free of UV damage and re-stitch the cover to make sure that your sail is being protected from damaging UV rays. We can also make recommendations to extend the life of your sails with recuts, luff curve changes, full batten conversions and UV cover replacements.

Ullman Sails sail wash

In sail washing, the most important factor is maintaining the cloth’s original structural integrity. At Ullman, sails are soaked in special cleaning agents for twenty-four hours and then rinsed. All sails are hung to dry in a climate-controlled environment. Final inspection takes place before flaking and storing the sails for pickup or delivery.
